Horror Tip: Elevated

Name: Elevated
Type: Short film
Link: Youtube part 1 and part 2.
This is a pretty unknown short film from the guy that made Cube (one of my favorite horror movies) and it has a lot in common with that movie. Both films are based on a fear of the unknown, have tense psychological drama and feature a very limited set.

The entire film takes place in an elevator where two people are confronted with a blood-soaked man claiming there is a monster in the building. From there things go from bad to worse as the people start to distrust each other.

I liked Elevated a lot and it is a shame that there are not more films like it available. Especially in this age of spectacular effects it is refreshing to see movies that let the viewer use her own imagination!

  1. Elevated is a great example of horror left to the imagination. That's the way to do it in my opinion!

  2. I suggest you also Cypher always from Vincenzo Natali. a Great SCIFi opera with created with a little budget.

  3. Yay, I'm not the only one who's heard of Cube! It seems nobody I talk to has ever heard of it.

On topic, this was an interesting short, although it would have been much improved without Spanish subtitles and with better-than-Youtube video quality. I wasn't really sure what to expect from it, but I was pleasantly (Hmm... maybe that's not the best choice of words...) supprised by how good it was. It was only around 12 minutes long, and yet that was still long enough to draw you in to the paranoia and tension. Thats a sign of good film-making.

  4. Since we're talking about movies,I want you to take a look at my "Penumbra The Movie Trailer"
