  2. "Interest in science and science-fiction." Ok. I didn't know my hype could go anymore higher but I think it just did. And I just played System Shock 2 for the first time too. I hope we have some kind of a spiritual resurrection of SHODAN in our hands.

    1. SHODAN is alive in the in the making Interstellar Marines game (is the same voice actress). ;)

  3. I'm used to staying up all night and sleeping in the day. I like it better since it's so quiet and there are no people around to annoy me. There are plenty of people who work the graveyard shift. I'm just saying that the timezone thing isn't really necessary, since you could find people from all around the world who are willing to work at the same time you do, even if it's night time to them. Just get the best people for the job, regardless of geography.

    PS
I feel like I'm on perpetual jet lag, but I deal.

  4. Hello! Im just wondering when the deadline is and when you will be letting people know if their application was successful or not?

Will you let everyone know about the outcome of their application also? So people are not waiting on the edge of their seats etc (Like me) :)

  7. Please in your new game make the main character a FEMALE. Sick of playing as men!

    1. We have had one female lead so far!

    2. Women can't handle the types of situations Daniel was able to go through!

    3. I'd say Daniel handled it pretty poorly ;) I am sure a woman would have handled it a lot better. A reason for having a male protagonist in TDD? :)

    4. Well... physiologically men are stronger, but women have more stamina and pain tolerance. Also, women are more psychologically conditioned for gore i.e. child birth. I think a any woman would do better in a horror situation, than any man.

    5. "Women can't handle the types of situations Daniel was able to go through!"

      *LOL*

And how many times did you cower and scream while playing The Dark Descent?

Anyway... good luck everyone. And congratulations to whomever joins this great team.

  9. Too bad I'm still going to school, because nearly everything (except the part of "part of a released commercial-/indie-game /mod") would fit too me! I'd love being part of this team, because their games are on a high-end level.

  11. My Heart Skipped A Beat When I Saw This. I Meet All Of The Requirements (Including Extended) And I'm Great With Scripts, Immersing Design And So On. My Only Problem Is That I'm A Student In Australia So Work Would Be Late At Night And I Don't Handle Lack Of Sleep Well (Though I Usually Sleep In The Day And Do Shit At Night). I Hope I Can Work For Frictional One Day Because I've Dreamed Of The Job Since I Saw Overture Development. I Have Bought All The Games On The Release Dates And Nothing Compares To Them. I'm A Horror Junkie And A Hardcore Gamer Too (I Have No Life), So This Would Be Amazing.

  12. Hi was wondering if you are still taking applicants? I am a college graduate with a degree in game design specializing in level design. I am proficient with both the unreal engine and unity. Have made a 1st person horror mod for unreal and am also skilled at 3d art software such as Maya, Zbrush, and Photoshop. I also have knowledge in sound design and animation. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Amnesia series and would love to become a member of team frictional. I am capable of working full time and have a serious workspace at home.

  20. Hello, I was just wondering about what time frames at frictional games you prefer to work upon in a video game; such as past, present, and future. I've noticed that Penumbra was more of a modern time period, and Amnesia the early 19th century. Do you find a specific period of time to be more interesting than that of others?

    1. Stone age is fav!

Seriously though, not sure we have a favorite. Personally, I think it is most interesting to try different things out.

      Delete
    2. That's true, perhaps even a combination of various elements from each time period will allow a different, and unique style.

This is a little off topic compared to the original question, but is being a video game designer an enjoyable job? I've been really thinking about doing it, and I thought asking the individuals who made the best game I've ever played would know the best answer too it.

    3. Enjoyable? It changes from day to day :) I actually do not really enjoy the actual designing process which is mostly just grueling work. It is more fun to work on specific implementations and polish up smaller stuff.

    4. So to you would building a model such as a grunt, and then coding it to chase after you be more enjoyable then planning out whether Daniel should be scared of the dark, and require tinderboxes, or lantern oil to save his sanity as a game mechanic?
